Full-Time Students or Scholars (under age 65) who are studying outside their home country for the purpose of pursuing international educational activities are eligible to buy Study USA-HealthCare:
Must be a Full-time Student at a college or university, excluding online colleges and universities, or within 31 days of being a Full-time Student at a college or university; or must be a Full-time Scholar affiliated with an educational institution and performing work or research for at least 30 hours per week. The Full-time Student/Scholar status requirement is waived for Participants within the US holding a valid F-1 visa. Full-time status requirements remain in force for individuals holding M-1, J-1, or other category visas; and must not have obtained residency status in the US.

Yes. Spouse and/or unmarried children (under age 19) of enrolled student can be enrolled for insurance with the student's initial enrollment, or within 31 days of birth, legal adoption, marriage or arrival in country of study. Dependents must be temporarily be located outside their home country, and must not have obtained residency status in the host country. If your dependents are not eligible for Study USA-HealthCare, they can enroll in one of our other plans for people outside their home country.
First, purchase Study USA HealthCare Insurance. After your purchase, simply fill in your portion of your school's Compliance or Waiver Form, sign it, and fax it to us at (610) 537-9851 or email it to susaforms@travelinsure.com. Study USA will complete it and fax it back to your school for you within one business day.
Yes. You can enroll in Study USA-HealthCare regardless of how long you have been studying outside your home country, as long as you fulfill the eligibility requirements in Question 1 above.
Yes - Study USA-HealthCare can be renewed for up to 4 years, as long as you fulfill the eligibility requirements in Question 1 above.
Pre-existing Condition means any:
(1) condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment (includes receiving services and supplies, consultations, diagnostic tests or prescription medicines) was recommended or received during the 12 months immediately preceding the certificate effective date;
(2) condition that had manifested itself in such a manner that would have caused a reasonably prudent person to seek medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment (includes receiving services and supplies, consultations, diagnostic tests or prescription medicines) within the 12 months immediately preceding the certificate effective date;
(3) injury, illness, sickness, disease, or other physical, medical, mental, or nervous conditions, disorder or ailment (whether known or unknown) that, with reasonable medical certainty, existed at the time of application or within the 12 months immediately preceding the certificate effective date.
Pre-existing conditions are excluded during the waiting period. For Study USA-HealthCare Standard, the waiting period is 12 months. For Study USA-HealthCare Preferred & Platinum, the waiting period is 6 months. The Study USA-HealthCare Basic plan does not have coverage for pre-existing conditions. Yes, under the Study USA Standard, Preferred and Platinum plan levels, the pregnancy of an insured student or enrolled spouse is covered if the conception of pregnancy occurs after the effective date of coverage. It does not cover the pregnancy of a dependent child. For details, please refer to the Description of Coverage.
Yes, Study USA-HealthCare covers the Insured worldwide, except in their home country. For each 3 months of coverage with Study USA-HealthCare, the insured is eligible for no more than 15 days of home country coverage.
